Expansion at Mitchell Park Community Center
ACS is pleased to announce that, starting this spring, it is partnering with the City of Palo Alto to offer education classes to parents at Mitchell Park Community Center.  Classes will be led by mental health professionals in the community, and will be open to the general public with a $5 suggested donation.

The following education classes will take place on Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.:

Extended Counseling Hours
This year, for the first time ever, ACS will offer summer counseling through its On-Campus Counseling Program. The extended counseling hours will occur at the PAUSD high school that is designated to host summer school.  This much-needed expansion is something ACS has been working toward for several years, in response to requests from students, parents and teachers. The expansion not only offers valuable continuity of service for students who could benefit from continued therapy over summer, but also provides therapy to a high-risk teen population.

New Website
In February 2005, the Taproot Foundation awarded ACS a $35,000 service grant to revamp its website.  Since then, a Taproot team of web designers, graphic designers and marketing professionals have been working closely with ACS to create a user-friendly and engaging website.  The new site will include a number of exciting features, including: an enhanced homepage, a special Just for Teens section, answers to frequently asked questions, an expanded resources page, and a sign-up option for ACS’s new e-newsletter.

About ACS
Incorporated in 1975, the mission of ACS is to promote healthy social and emotional development in adolescents, their families and their communities through counseling and education.  ACS began with Caravan House, a group home for teens who have been physically and emotionally abused. Realizing the tremendous positive impact of both intervention and prevention, ACS added services incrementally, and now includes two additional programs for at-risk teens in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties: the On-Campus Counseling Program, providing on-site individual, group and family counseling at no cost to secondary school students, and the Adolescent Substance Abuse Treatment Program, providing intensive outpatient treatment to teens struggling with addiction.
