Adolescent Counseling
Services (ACS) to Offer Free Counseling to Students at Redwood
High School
Expansion of on-campus
counseling in Sequoia district.
(Palo Alto, CA)—On May 18, 2007, Adolescent Counseling Services
(ACS) announced news of its expansion of the
On-Campus Counseling Program
(OCCP) to Redwood
High School, beginning August of 2007 at the start of
the school year.
“This is a great opportunity for ACS and Sequoia Union High School
District to strengthen our partnership and increase our organization’s
reach in providing needed counseling services to more teens in our community,” said
Dr. Philippe Rey, Executive Director of ACS.
Dr. Pat Gemma, SUHSD Superintendent said, “I am so thankful for
all the services ACS provides to our district.”
With a student population of 300, Redwood High School is the only continuation
high school among four comprehensive high schools in the Sequoia Union
High School District. The purpose of Redwood High
School is to offer a variety of choices for completing high school to
students behind in their credits at their comprehensive high schools.
ACS currently operates at all five middle and high school campuses in
Palo Alto, and Menlo Atherton High School in the Sequoia Union School
District.
As a 30-year old teen counseling agency serving San Mateo and Santa Clara
Counties, ACS enters the Redwood campus with a track-record of experience
and professional counseling staff, including a licensed Site Director
and two part-time interns, one of whom is bilingual in Spanish.
ACS offers year-round services including an On-Campus Counseling Program
which provides on-site individual and group counseling at no cost to students
and their families, including bilingual counseling and community outreach
for Latino families, and the Adolescent Substance Abuse Treatment Program,
which offers prevention education as well as intensive outpatient treatment
to teens and families struggling with addiction and recovery.
