Sponsorship Increase Demonstrates Community Support For Teen Mental Health Services
Adolescent Counseling Services to celebrate 35th anniversary at its annual fundraising gala
PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Adolescent Counseling Services (ACS), a community-based nonprofit agency will celebrate 35 years of providing free and affordable mental health services to teenagers and their families at its annual fundraising gala, Spring Sounds on May 1, 2010, from 6-11 p.m. at the Sharon Heights Golf & Country Club. Hosted by Honorary Chairs, Hal and Iris Korol, the event promises to be a terrific evening of fine dining, live and silent auctions, testimonials from former ACS clients, and entertainment provided by the Gunn High School Music Department and San Francisco-based party band, Honey Circuit.
Each year, ACS seeks sponsorships from local businesses to help underwrite the cost of the event. With two months remaining, fourteen companies have already come on board as event sponsors, more than doubling the number of sponsors in the previous year. “It’s a difficult time for businesses,” said Aarika Riddle, Development and Marketing Director. “We are so humbled by the outpouring of support for our cause during this time of economic uncertainty.”
Leading the way as the event’s Premier Sponsor is Wells Fargo, a long-time supporter of ACS. "We are proud to partner with Adolescent Counseling Services as they work toward achieving our shared goals in the community," said Mario Diaz, Wells Fargo Regional Vice President. Additional sponsors include Assured Relocation, Bayless/Hale Design, Berman Skin Institute, the Bohannon Foundation, Borel Private Bank and Trust Company, Clear Channel Entertainment, Korbel California Champagne, Infinity Press, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford, Palo Alto Medical Foundation, Palo Alto Weekly and Palo Alto Online, Samuel Sinnott and Company, and the Wilson Sonsini Goodrich and Rosati Foundation.
As event co-chairs Sunny Dykwel and Holly Ward lead the way with pre-event preparations, they remain optimistic for a successful turnout. “We hope that the support of local businesses is echoed by individuals in our community who show up on May 1,” said Dykwel. “We want as many people as possible to put on their finest and come support ACS and the fabulous work they do for our children and families. Affordable services are in high demand and we all need to join together and do what we can,” added Ward.
Staff members at ACS have been working hard to ensure the agency is responding to the increase in need, stepping up preventive education outreach and making services available to the broader community. In addition to the On-Campus Counseling (OCC) and Adolescent Substance Abuse Treatment (ASAT) Programs, The After-School Counseling Program became a core program in September of 2009, providing evening counseling and support groups to teens and families on a sliding-scale basis. “It’s been a difficult year for our community,” said ACS Executive Director, Dr. Philippe Rey. “I think the increase in Spring Sounds sponsorships demonstrates a heightened understanding of the critical nature of our work.”
Spring Sounds Tickets are $200 per person. Table hosting is available for groups of 8-10. For ticket and event information, please call (650) 424-0852, e-mail info@acs-teens.org, or visit www.acs-teens.org.
