The Adolescent Substance Abuse Treatment (ASAT) Program provides outpatient, intensive outpatient treatment, professional assessment and prevention education in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties. ACS offers an effective and unique model in adolescent treatment by focusing on:

  • Family Therapeutic Model - Especially for adolescents, the family unit plays an important role in successful recovery. Family therapy is part of treatment.
  • 12 Step Community Reinforcement - The 12 steps offer teens an important treatment support system and effective tools towards sobriety. Abstinence is the goal in recovery.
  • Individual Therapy - By addressing the underlying issues that may contribute to substance abuse, ACS sets the teens up for success on their journey of recovery. Individual therapy is a component of their treatment plan.
  • Group Therapy - A teen peer group and parent support group are part of the treatment at ASAT.

The ASAT Program is a state certified outpatient treatment program, providing the following services on a fee-for-service basis:

  • Assessment
  • Outpatient
  • Intensive Outpatient
  • Aftercare

The ASAT Program accepts referrals from the community as well as from the Palo Alto Unified School District (PAUSD). Referrals for substance abuse assessment made by PAUSD are free of charge to the family of the teen being assessed. Sliding scale fees are available for families with a demonstrated need. Our professional staff consists of a Program Director, a Clinical Supervisor, and three to five Clinicians.
