Adolescent Counseling Services Announces Service Area Expansion

Programs to be offered in San Mateo County and North Santa Clara County locations

PALO ALTO, Calif. — Adolescent Counseling Services (ACS), a community-based nonprofit agency dedicated to the healthy social and emotional welfare of local youth, announces its service area expansion to San Mateo County. ACS will now offer therapeutic services in Redwood City and Palo Alto beginning March 1, 2016.

“The ability to bring affordable support services to Redwood City and the surrounding areas will benefit countless youth and their family members, providing them with the resources to develop healthier behaviors and lifestyles,” said Dr. Philippe Rey, Executive Director.

ACS estimates that 65,000 youth on the peninsula need accessible mental health services.  A pivotal part of ACS’ strategic plan is to increase total clients served by 30 percent in order to meet this growing demand.  Expansion to the new Redwood City location will provide eight offices to support the Community Counseling, Adolescent Substance Abuse Treatment, and Outlet programs. This location will also house ACS’ administrative headquarters.

Therapy through the Community Counseling and Adolescent Substance Abuse Treatment programs will continue to be offered in a new Palo Alto location with limited disruption to current client families. Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian was instrumental in securing a space for ACS in a Santa Clara County building. “ACS is there for teens with the help they need, when they need it, where they need it,” said Simitian on the importance of keeping ACS easily accessible to North County residents.  “Being a teen can be tough.”

Outpatient services will begin March 1, 2016 at 643 Bair Island Road, Suite 301 in Redwood City and are currently available by appointment only in Palo Alto. Outlet support groups will start at the Redwood City office on March 15, 2016 and continue at Community Health Awareness Council in Mountain View and the Junior Gym in San Mateo. Therapy will continue uninterrupted on-campus at eight secondary schools in the Palo Alto Unified School District, Sequoia Union High School District and Las Lomitas Elementary School District.  For more information about group schedules or program offerings, please visit www.acs-teens.org.
