Sexual Assualt and Online Bullying Turn Deadly for One Saratoga Teen Girl

A unesscesary tragedy occurred September 10, 2012, when 15 yr old Saratoga High School student Audrie Pott took her own life after suffering sexual assault and online humiliation at the hands of her attackers.

Her parents had no knowledge of the assault on their 15-year-old daughter at the time she took her life but learned afterwards that it had occurred and that she was then harrassed with images and comments of Facebook.com by her attackers. In an effort to seek justice for their daughter against her attackers they pursued the case and as of April 12, 2013 three boys have been arrested in connection with this case.

Yesterday, NBC Bay Area News interviewed Adolescent Counseling Services’ Outpatient Counseling Services Director, Connie Mayer, LMFT, about the use of social media by teens to bully or humiliate their peers, as was done by Audrie Pott’s attackers after the assault.

Here is the full report from NBC news which aired Thursday, April 11, 2013.
