Michael* was a 14 year old freshman when his teachers recommended him to Adolescent Counseling Services’ After-School Counseling Program, because of dropping grades and bouts of anger with peers in the classroom. His therapist helped Michael identify his feelings and learn to sense what might be triggering his angry episodes. They also worked on how to manage his anger with different coping strategies. Over the school year, Michael’s self-esteem increased, his grades began to improve, and most importantly, his relationship with his family improved.

Michael continues to see his ACS therapist for “tune ups” when he or his parents think they need support. Michael’s experience in counseling with ACS helped him find his voice and he’s used what he has learned to help him navigate through life.
