TRAINEESHIP/INTERNSHIP 2026 – 2027
DESCRIPTION OF PLACEMENT:
Adolescent Counseling Services’ houses four programs including: our On-Campus Counseling Program (OCCP), providing free counseling services to students and their families at schools in culturally diverse communities in the Bay Area; our Adolescent Substance Addiction Treatment Program (ASAT) providing intensive outpatient and outpatient services for teens and their families; our Outlet Program, providing support, educational and therapeutic services for LGBTQ+ youth and their families; and finally, our Community Counseling Program (CCP), providing therapeutic services for teens and their families. Interns and trainees are placed in one program for the entire year and they provide ongoing individual, group and family counseling services to clients and family members within their program. Ideally, applicants will have prior experience working with children and/or adolescents. At least one year of related clinical experience and/or experience working in a mental health or school based program-related setting would be especially helpful but is by no means a requirement. People of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
STIPENDS:
We are able to offer a stipend to all trainees (Paid twice yearly). Bi-lingual Spanish and some threshold language speakers are eligible to receive a stipend increase.
TIME COMMITMENT:
Mid-August through mid-June; 18-24 hours per week per contracted agreement with academic institutions. Some programming stretches into the summer months and may include an extended or supplemental arrangement. Wednesday afternoons are reserved for weekly Didactic training in ALL programs. You must have transportation to Redwood City to attend orientation and weekly training as well as the in-person requirements of your program.
